A property owner can obtain additional coverage commonly referred to as “Ordinance” coverage. There are three types of this coverage all of which are different and cover different expenses you might incur after a loss. These are the cost to demolish, the cost to replace or reconstruct the property at todays building code compliance and the cost to clear the land of debris. Speak with your insurance agent to determine if these additional coverages are within your budget and risk tolerance.
